CHAPCOM WIRELESS was formed by a few professionals in the telecommunications industry with 51 years of combined experience, ranging form Air to Ground Wireless, Cellular, Paging, Sub-Sea Fiber Optics, Avionics, and Satellite Communications.
We saw a need for affordable wireless internet access in neighborhoods selectively underserved by other providers. Following the path of Community Wireless Providers, we utilize Open Source for our equipment, which makes it less expensive to operate while sharing our ideas with others. Our primary services are located throughout neighborhoods in New York City (Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx), South Florida and Jamaica, W.I. In serving these neighborhoods, we provide service for a minimal cost and Free Service (under certain circumstances) to people of the area, with the help of donations and support form local business, as well as governments.
We are inspired by the many wireless projects that offer "everyone" access to the internet without Selectivity.
